International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development

Rights & Democracy is an independent organization, which promotes, advocates and defends the democratic and human rights set out in the International Bill of Human Rights. Rights & Democracy initiates and supports programmes to strengthen laws and democratic institutions, principally in developing countries.
Rights & Democracy focuses its work on four thematic priorities: Democratic Development, Women's Rights, the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Globalization and Human Rights; and two special operations: International Human Rights Advocacy and Urgent Action and Important Opportunities.
The Globalization Programme undertakes research, participates in educational activities, works in coalitions and with partners in Asia and Latin America, and lobbies governments and multilateral institutions, to bring a human rights perspective to the debates around globalization.

International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development

ICTSD engages a broad range of actors in ongoing dialogue about trade and sustainable development. It facilitates interaction between policy-makers and those outside the system to help trade policy become more supportive of sustainable development. By helping parties increase capacity and become better informed about each other, ICTSD builds bridges between groups with seemingly disparate agendas.

International Council on Human Rights Policy

The International Council conducts research projects on various human rights themes. The purpose is to undertake relevant and practical research that is useful to organisations working in the field of human rights.
The "spotlight" of human rights concern, traditionally focused on governments, is now turned on the conduct of companies. Most discussion and campaigning, however, centres around voluntary initiatives, such as codes of conduct promoted by companies or NGOs. As the limitations of voluntarism have emerged, however, companies, campaigners and legal experts have started to look harder at international human rights law.

International Federation for Human Rights

The aim of the FIDH is to obtain effective improvements in the protection of victims, the prevention of Human Rights abuse and the prosecution of those responsible.
FIDH’ s mandate is to contribute to the respect of all the rights defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. FIDH aims at obtaining effective improvements in the protection of victims, the prevention of Human Rights violations and the sanction of their perpetrators. Its priorities are set by the triennial World Congress and the International Board (22 members), with the support of the International Secretariat (30 staff members).

International League for Human Rights

The International League for Human Rights works to keep human rights at the forefront of international affairs. The League's special mission is to defend individual human rights advocates who have risked their lives to promote the ideals of a just and civil society in their homelands.
The Human Rights Auditing Standards and Procedures Project is the centerpiece of an innovative human rights and business program at the International League for Human Rights. Part of the auditing process already includes valuing contingent liabilities, such as pending and threatened litigation and liability for environmental damage. Adding measurable and quantifiable human rights standards to the accounting and auditing procedures will protect public companies from contingent punitive liabilities and other potential associated costs by providing them with both processes to inhibit or mitigate human rights abuses and annual feedback on their effectiveness.
