Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)

Acting socially responsible in a globalised economy has become a major issue for trade as tough competition and decreasing tolerance with regard to poor working conditions in production facilities represent a huge challenge for retailing companies as well as for suppliers. How can retailers and suppliers meet requirements of high quality, low prices and socially fair produced goods?

Business for Social Responsibility (BSR)

Since 1992, non-profit Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) has been a leading provider of innovative business solutions to many of the world’s leading corporations. Headquartered in San Francisco and with offices in Paris and Guangzhou, China, BSR is a nonprofit business association that serves its 250 member companies and other Global 1000 enterprises. Through advisory services, convening and research, BSR works with corporations and their stakeholders to create a more just and sustainable global economy.

Business Leaders Initiatve on Human Rights (BLIHR)

"The Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights (BLIHR) is a three-year programme to help lead and develop the corporate response to human rights. We believe in an evidence-based approach based on the application and testing of human rights across a number of business sectors and geographic locations." Member companies: ABB, Barclays, Body Shop, Gap, Hewlett-Packard, MTV Networks Europe, National Grid Transco, Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development, Novo Nordisk, Statoil.

Centre for the International Transfer of Environmental Technologies

ITUT - the Centre for the International Transfer of Environmental Technologies was founded in order to provide support for the mainly small to medium-sized company sector , which is the driving force behind the business and innovation potential in Germany.
The ITUT GmbH is a main co-ordinating centre for inquiries stemming from German exporters of environmental technologies and from foreign partners with the goal of pursuing individual projects.
With the "envirotech-searchmeister" the ITUT offers an overview on concrete topics like the know-how of the German enviromental industry and the latest developements and trends on the German enviromental technology market. Furthermore you can get assistance in the search of buisness and cooperation partners in Germany.

Companies with a human right policy statement and human rights reporting. Presented by the Business and Human Right Ressource Centre.

Companies that participate in the UN Global Compact express support for 9 principles, including Principles 1 & 2 referring to human rights. Here all Global Compact companies are included. Only companies that have taken the step of adopting a formal company policy statement explicitly referring to human rights are included, whether or not they participate in the Global Compact.

The second section is a selection of “good practice” company reports with substantive coverage of human rights issues, recommended to the Resource Centre by a range of experts. The reports are included for their strong references to some or all of the following:
- Practical implementation
- Policies and management systems
- Specific challenges and limitations
- Commitments and targets for future improvement
- Monitoring and verification, involvement of external stakeholders
- Management of human rights and environmental issues in the supply chain
It is not a comprehensive list of good corporate human rights reports. Reports are included in this section without any judgment on the actual human rights performance of each company.

Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR)

For over thirty years the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) has been a leader of the corporate social responsibility movement. ICCR's membership is an association of 275 faith- based institutional investors, including national denominations, religious communities, pension funds, endowments, hospital corporations, economic development funds and publishing companies. ICCR and its members press companies to be socially and environmentally responsible. Each year ICCR- member religious institutional investors sponsor over 100 shareholder resolutions on major social and environmental issues.
The combined portfolio value of ICCR's member organizations is estimated to be $110 billion.

World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a coalition of 175 international companies united by a shared commitment to sustainable development via the three pillars of economic growth, ecological balance and social progress.
The members are drawn from more than 35 countries and 20 major industrial sectors. Additionally there is a global network of 50 national and regional business councils and partner organizations involving some 1,000 business leaders globally.
The WBCSD's activities reflect our belief that the pursuit of sustainable development is good for business and business is good for sustainable development.
The mission:
To provide business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development, and to promote the role of eco-efficiency, innovation and corporate social responsibility.
